Alice Rose creates ceramic vases that explore perspective and illusion. Her works draw in the viewer with their compelling mirage effects. Alice Rose creates her works by applying the principles of two dimensional drawing onto three dimensional forms. Carefully placed light and shadow painted on the surface further plays with the eye, the result is a vase that seems appear to hover between the 3D and 2D worlds, or exist in a dimension of its very own. Alice Rose’s latest works take inspiration from the work of Op artists and Pop artists such as Roy Lichtenstein with their use of cartoon like shading and Trompe-l’oeil effects.
