Striking mid-century French studio pottery vase in the manner of Vallauris. This is a sculptural free-form piece with a bold organic silhouette and pierced central form, very much in keeping with French studio ceramics of the 1950s-60s. The surface features a heavily textured, almost bark-like finish with layered earthy glazes in deep browns, greens and darker tones. The form is abstract and architectural, making it a strong decorative statement whether displayed alone or as part of a mid-century or brutalist interior. It is clearly stamped Soholm Bornholm Denmark Stentoj 3227 and Handmade on the base and is in perfect condition. It still has the original shop sticker on the side of it. This beautiful vase is a true piece of art pottery. Handmade in Sweden by Stig Lindberg for Gustavsberg it features an abstract pattern in blue and yellow, with a matte finish on ceramic material. The vase stands at 14 cm (5.5inches) tall and has a width of 13 cm (5 inches), making it a perfect addition to any Mid-Century Modern decor. Crafted in the 1960s, this vintage vase is an original piece from Gustavsberg studio pottery. It’s painted on the back with the blue G and the hand through it which indicates that the pottery was hand thrown. In good conditions, just a nibble on one of the corners – please see photos. The vase is extremely rare and fabulous as a mid century Scandinavian piece of art pottery. It is a valuable addition to any collection.
