Kenneth Quick Yunomi (tea bowl) for Leach pottery (Rare). Kenneth Quick’s personal impressed mark is indistinct. It isn’t helped by the fact the impression is made on the slightly curved part of the inside of the foot ring and where glaze has collected. There are two impressed marks one is for Leach pottery. This Yunomi has similarities with other work he produced at Leach in size, form, colour and style. The photographs 8, 9, 10, 11 & 12 are of other Yunomis by KQ with clearer, cleaner marks despite there still being some glaze problems. His work for Leach pottery only comes up for sale rarely. I can’t be any fairer. Just so people are aware I have received a question about the mark and a suggestion that it could be by Bill Marshall. I’m sure there will be others who have a similar opinion and it was something I had considered myself. The last photograph shows 4 x Bill Marshall yunomis some from the time he was at Leach some Lelant. They are very different in size and form and I feel that it is more likely than not to be KQ given the photographs of his other similar work. I did try to get better photos of the mark and I sent them onward but they aren’t any better than those shown. If I can help further please don’t hesitate to contact me. No chips, cracks or repairs.
