This is a superb slab built vase that could be a candle holder. It is wood fired studio pottery with sgraffito decoration. The marks aren’t all that clear but I think it is an M with a P through it which is the mark for POWDERMILL POTTERY and the date looks to be 89 which would be the year after he began potting at Powdermill In Dartmoor. It’s a lovely piece that stands 7″ high and is 7″ across the base by 1.5 in depth. It is perfect with baize on the base to prevent scratching.
