Vtg 1975 Signed Studio Pottery Vase 14 Hand Carved Textured Tribal Southwestern. Vintage hand-signed studio pottery vase, dated 1975. This substantial 14-inch ceramic vessel features deeply carved and incised decorative bands including rope twist, bead, scroll, and fluted motifs. The matte earth-tone clay body gives it a natural, sandy texture with strong architectural presence. The piece is hand signed and dated on the underside (appears to read “Barb 75″ – please see photos for exact signature). Details. Height: approx. 14. Hand carved decoration throughout. Matte, unglazed earth-tone clay. Felt pads applied to base. Signed and dated on underside. Condition: Very good vintage condition. No cracks or repairs observed. Minor age-appropriate wear to underside. A beautiful example of 1970s American studio pottery with strong Southwestern / tribal influence. Displays wonderfully as a statement piece. A striking signed ceramic sculpture by Carol McNicholl, one of the most distinctive voices in British studio ceramics of the late 20th century. Finished in a dramatic black glaze, it is animated with hand-painted yellow dots, stripes, and cross-hatched motifs that create rhythm, movement, and visual tension across the surface. This is a beautiful and unique mid-century Raku vase from an individual Western studio pottery. It is signed (as can be seen in the photos). Such wonderful glazing finishes were adopted from the original Japanese pottery craft dating back centuries. The incredible finished glaze is produced by a complicated second slip glazing technique. Every finished Raku piece is entirely unique.

An unusal late 19th Century Edward Bingham, Hedingham Pottery figural pottery vase with impressed backstamp to base. Each of the lamb’s ear tips are chipped (photos 7-8), there’s an original firing shrinkage line to the girl’s wrist (photo 11) and glaze crackle. Please note there are light reflections off the glaze in the photos. The tomato can and flower are just to give a sense of size. Please use the zoom on the photos which form part of the description.
