A mesmerising mid-to-late 1920s French art pottery vase produced by the renowned Pierrefonds studio. Société Faïencière Héraldique de Pierrefonds. In the Oise region of France. This elegant, straight-sided cylindrical piece showcases a magnificent masterclass in crystalline glazing. The technical kiln cooling process forms completely unique, shimmering macro-crystalline starburst blooms inside the glass matrix. The piece transitions seamlessly from a speckled ochre-sand rim down into a vibrant gradient of deep amethyst purple and sky blue. Marks & Identification: The unglazed base ring is exceptionally well-preserved and features deep, sharp markings. The official “P” and “H” initials representing. The exact factory mold/shape index number’2009′ (Note: This is the factory catalog shape sequence index code from the late 1920s, not a modern production date). Condition: Overall very good antique condition. The glazes maintain their full, brilliant glossy luster and contrast. There are no evident signs of cracks, chips, or restoration. The unglazed foot rim is extremely clean and crisp. Please note there is some light, age-related crazing throughout the glaze matrix, which is perfectly standard for 100-year-old French crystalline wares.

His work explored the relationship between geometric decoration and simple thrown forms, often combining textured surfaces with striking glaze effects. This piece is an excellent example of his distinctive studio pottery and bears the impressed CJ maker’s mark. According to the original information slip found inside one of the vases from this collection, he produced individual oxidised stoneware pieces and explored the relationship between two-dimensional design and three-dimensional form through engraving, slip decoration and resist techniques. This vase is impressed with the CJ maker’s mark and is a fine example of his distinctive contemporary studio pottery. Since Jenkins’ passing in 2022, his work has become increasingly sought after by collectors of British studio ceramics. Signed studio art-glass bowl by celebrated British glass artist Norman Stuart Clarke. This individually hand-blown bowl is formed from thick pale celadon-white opaline glass with a beautiful soft satin-frosted finish. The exterior is decorated with expressive painterly inclusions and flowing abstract forms in pink, cobalt blue, pale blue, orange and black. Fine dark linear trails move through the coloured decoration, giving the bowl the appearance of an abstract painting suspended within the glass. The colours continue around the full circumference, making the piece visually engaging from every angle. The interior has a softly diffused translucent appearance, allowing the external colours to remain visible through the thick glass. The bowl stands upon an applied circular glass foot. The underside retains its hand-finished pontil area and is. Engraved with the artist’s signature. Confirming it as an authentic studio work by Norman Stuart Clarke. Clarke is recognised as an important figure in the British studio-glass movement and is particularly admired for his expressive use of colour, abstract trailing and individually blown sculptural forms. A particularly attractive example of British studio glass that would work beautifully as a decorative centrepiece, collector’s object or sculptural display piece. Decorative bowl / centrepiece. Hand-engraved signature on the underside. Celadon white, pink, cobalt blue, orange and black. No obvious major chips or losses are visible. Small bubbles, variations in thickness, pontil irregularities and differences in the coloured decoration are natural characteristics of individually hand-blown studio glass and should not be considered manufacturing faults. Several fine dark lines visible within the bowl appear to form part of the incorporated abstract decoration. Buyers should nevertheless study all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the condition description. The raised central area underneath is associated with the handmade pontil and finishing process and is not a later repair. The engraved signature on the underside is faint because of the pale frosted glass but is visible under angled lighting. This is a substantial and fragile handmade glass object.
