This is a squat, sculptural stoneware vase with a wonderfully tactile textured surface, combining earthy iron-brown and cream tones with strong horizontal incised/banded decoration. The generously flared rim and compressed form are characteristic of Cooper’s studio pottery, while the interior has a contrasting blue/grey-green glaze with attractive variations resulting from the firing. The base is painted with Cooper’s “Waistel” signature. Dimensions: Height: 13.5cm Maximum diameter: 16cm Condition: Very good vintage condition. There are no obvious chips, cracks or repairs that I can see. The considerable variation in colour, texture and surface is characteristic of the handmade ceramic and firing process rather than damage. Please examine all photographs carefully as they form part of the description. A particularly attractive example for a collector of British studio pottery, or simply as a striking decorative object. Carefully packed and sent by tracked/insured service.
