It bears the clear impressed mark for both the potter and Lessenhall pottery. The bowl has incised line decoration and tenmoku glaze. The pot is without damage and has no chips, cracks or repairs. It Measures 8.5cm in height and has a rim diameter of 14cm. There is a label attached to the base which was there when I acquired it. I have no way of knowing whether that is true or not.

A stoneware vase with a flared rim. Painted Waistel Mark on base. The vase measures 14cm in height and 14cm rim diameter. In good condition and free from any chips, cracks, repairs or renovation. I would add that the light in the photographs and reflection in the main make the vase appear lighter than it is in reality. The photograph of the vase inverted and the rim show the true colour which in parts is grey green to olive green from the tenmoku underglaze.

Mike Dodd Studio pottery Chawan / bowl with running bronze coloured glaze decoration #2654. The bowl is free from damage with no chips, cracks, repairs or renovation. The impressed Personal mark for Mike Dodd is impressed centrally in the base ring. It is readable from different directions though it is covered by glaze.

She attended at the Royal College of Art studying for two years under the tutelage of William Staite Murray. Ms Mommens then initially set up a pottery in Kent and then at Chiswick in London. As time passed she spent time at Winchcombe and Wenford Bridge working with Michael Cardew. By the 1950’s she was potting in Sussex eventually by the 1970’s with Chris Lewis. Ms Mommens continued producing pottery throughout her life well into her late 90’s. She passed away in 2010 aged 101 years. The bowl is ash glazed stoneware. It bears the clear impressed mark for Ursula in the centre of the footring. The decoration is a wax resist abstract decoration around the circumference of the bowl and the well on a blue / grey wash (ground). This bowl measures 14 cm in diameter and stands 6 cm high. It is in good condition without any chips, cracks or repairs. There are some small glaze misses just above the base ring where Ms Mommens held the bowl by the foot-ring to dip into the glaze.
