Stunning MCM fat lava glazed vase with a touch of purple to the glaze by Pieter Groeneveldt. It is in fantastic condition and is a highly desirable piece of art pottery. Measures roughly 15.5cm high, 10.5cm diameter. Please note this is a used item and although i try my best to make sure i list every fault and flaw there may be some minor signs of age and wear that i have missed. Photos make up part of the description so please look at them closely. He began working in art pottery from the 1920s and had a studio in Voorschoten in the Netherlands which he operated until 1972. He is best known for his use of experimental glazes which can come in all textures and colours. He is best known for his chamotte and lava glazes developed in the 1950s and 60s, pre-dating many in a similar style that later came from West Germany. He is now getting recognised as one of the great Twentieth Century ceramics innovators.
