A hand-thrown studio pottery bottle vase signed by the maker and dated 1996. The vase features a rounded bulbous body with a tall slender neck and is finished in a beautifully varied reduction-fired glaze. The glaze displays rich earthy tones ranging from warm brown to blush and smoky shades, with natural crackle patterns developed during the firing process. The underside bears the potter’s signature together with the date 1996. A striking piece of late 20th century studio pottery that works equally well as a decorative object or a sculptural vase.

A large ash glaze stoneware lidded storage jar / vase with incised fluting as decoration. The storage jar measures 34cm in height and approximately 22cm in diameter at its widest point. The vase is in good condition and is free from any chips, cracks or repairs. It bears the clear impressed Mark for Phil Rogers as photographed. The vase weighs almost 4 kg.

Jane Hamlyn Pottery Blue, Green Lustre 34cm Rare JH stamped c1989. Been stored not used for years. (born 1940) is an English studio potter. Known for her functional salt glaze. London, Hamlyn initially trained as a nurse at University College Hospital. She studied pottery part-time at Putney Adult Education Centre. Before attending Harrow School of Art. In 1975 she set up Millfield Pottery Workshop near Doncaster. Hamlyn is credited with discovering the green colour that arises when painting a titanium wash over a blue slip. And in 1999 she was awarded the European Saltglaze Prize. Along with Walter Keeler. She is considered a pioneer of the salt glaze revival. Hamlyn is a Fellow and former chair of the Craft Potters Association. Her work is displayed at the Victoria & Albert Museum. In the Crafts Council. And the William Alfred Ismay. Ceramics collection at the York Art Gallery. Hamlyn was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire. (MBE) in the 2022 Birthday Honours. For services to pottery and ceramics.
