Large Czech Sommerso Art Glass Vase – Amethyst over Amber with Spiral Trailing – c. 1960s-70s A substantial mid-century Czech art glass vase, likely Chribská glassworks and the design school of Josef Hospodka. The form is tall and sculptural, often described as “avian”, with a drawn, curving neck and an asymmetrical, organic profile. Around the lower body runs a continuous applied trail worked in a spiral, creating a ribbed effect that wraps the form rather than sitting in straight bands. The colour is a classic sommerso combination: deep amethyst cased over warm amber, blending through smoky tones depending on the light. In natural light the upper section reads as a rich purple, while the base glows with a strong amber tone. Heavy and well-balanced, with the confident shaping typical of quality Czech glass from this period. There is a small internal inclusion and light age-related wear. A strong decorative piece with real presence-well suited to both modern interiors and mid-century glass collections.

From my living estate is this Arts and Crafts vase by the esteemed Ephraim Pottery house of Lake Mills, Wisconsin. Ephraim was founded in 1996 by artists who desired to preserve artistic freedom, high quality craftsmanship, and a love for genuine Arts and Crafts design. This Woman in Amber is all that, is 11 and 1/16 inches tall, the base is 3 and 1/8 inches in diameter and it’s 3 and 1/8 inches wide at the belly. The colors are amber tones, walnut brown, and creamy ivory in such a way that artist Leah Purisch amazingly captured a woman the midst of robing. The features, craftsmanship, and artistic value of this piece is a rare, one of a kind piece. Pre-packed weight is 2 and 1/2 pounds. I’m the original owner; there are no chips, cracks or crazing and it’s from my nonsmoking, no pet, no mildew home. If the packed weight is higher than 15 ounces and youd prefer the lessexpensive Parcel Select, just let me know (Priority is fairly fast; parcel groundis not).
