RICHARD BATTERHAM Ash Green Studio Pottery Mug. In good condition but not perfect it is free from any major chips, cracks, repairs or renovation, but there is an’occlusion’ on the rim which shouldn’t be there (as photographed) and a tiny flea bite at the side of it again as photographed. Typical of one of Richard’s mugs in style, shape, glaze and colour. It measures 10cm in height and approximately 9cm in diameter around its midriff. I have reduced the asking price to compensate for the imperfections.

This is an exceptionally beautiful Mike Dodd squared vase with finger-wipes to all four sides and a wonderfully coloured running ash-glaze. There is an interesting texture to the glaze and the finger-wipes have an almost irredescent quality to them. All-in-all a really fine vase by a master potter. There is a light coloured reflection to the bottom half of the vase in photos 5 – 8 but this is just light reflecting from my base board. Dimensions It is approx. 10 (25 cm) tall. Condition It is in perfect undamaged condition. Marks The usual MJD chop mark can just about be seen in photos 6 and 13 but it has filled with glaze so is not legible. This vase has been. Relisted due to a purchaser who didn’t pay in time and who didn’t communicate their reason why not. Please examine the photographs as they form part of the description.

Instantly recognisable as being by Richard Batterham by its shape, glaze colour and chattering decoration. Richard is viewed collectively by studio pottery collectors and studio potters themselves as an iconic master potter who trained at the Leach pottery before starting out on his own. Potting for 6 decades his work is always sought after. The tazza is undamaged and free from any chips, cracks, repairs or renovation. There is some crazing to the glaze as photographed, but most of his work has imperfections which are accepted and form the charm and character to his work. I believe some crackling of the glaze on his work was intentional see last photograph from Tanya Harrod’s book on his work. Measures 10 cm in height. 15 cm in diameter. I have factored the damage into the price asked. The cost will vary from country to country from courier to courier and will depend upon weight and size of the parcel when packed.
