The vase of rounded bulbous shape stands on a narrow flat rounded foot with a short narrow neck and is hand decorated in cobalt grey brush marks and red iron oxide dots on a light stone colored ground. The vase has impressed DC potters marks to the base. Size: Diameter:8cm, Height:11.5cm. Provenance: From the extensive private collection of a gentleman. Condition: In good condition. Packaging Process We are a small team and take great pride in ensuring that all out items are packed well and sent using appropriate strong packing materials with appropriate protection. We also believe in recycling packing materials where-ever possible and where the condition of the packing materials is suitable for this. Here is a wonderful studio pottery vase or brush pot by known Japanese potter, Toyoharu Ichino. This vase measures 6″ tall x 4 1/2″ at its widest. It has a thick tenmoku rust brown spontaneous grasses motif on one side. It is in excellent, original condition with no chips, cracks, or glaze scratching. It is clearly incised “Ichino” on the bottom and has its original exhibition sticker. This piece was out of the former prestigious collection of Howard and Gwen Laurie Smits. Many pieces of the Smits collection are pictured in the book “Color and Fire”. Pictures should tell the story. This is a consigned piece so prices are firm.
