Fine and significant studio pottery vase by the well regarded potter, Donald Mills. Mills spent a year with Bernard Leach in 1944 before setting up his own pottery near London Bridge, where this piece originates from.. Unfortunately this pottery did not last long due to a broken contract (reputedly to with the supply of ceramic insulators). This pot is a relatively early entry in the history of British studio pottery and shows a leach influence, but also makes a nod to the likes of Staite-Murray. Mills pots were well recieved, they were exhibited at the Victoria and Albert Museum, where examples form part of the current collection. No chips or cracks.
