Wonderful Moorcroft studio pottery plate, richly decorated in the Clematis pattern. Hand-painted, vibrant, and unmistakably Moorcroft. Dating from the mid-20th century and signed in blue with Walter Moorcroft’s initials. Clematis is a much-loved, elegant and increasingly rare commodity in Moorcroft’s storied catalogue. The floral design flows naturally, with subtle depth in the glaze that only hand-crafted pieces have. No chips, cracks, or repairs. The expected faint vintage crazing is visible on the reverse, yet almost undetectable on the display face of the piece. Perfect for display, a cabinet or a curated collection. Please study all photographs carefully as they form part of the description. This will be carefully packed and posted promptly with full tracking. This commanding, slab-built stoneware vase perfectly captures the raw, organic aesthetic of the 1970s Brutalist and Wabi-Sabi movements. It features a striking architectural form with heavy, multi-faceted sides.
