Gorgeous Large Studio Pottery Stoneware Vase by Chris Bramble. Amazing Speckled Textured Glaze. A beautiful stoneware vase created in London by a master potter who has been potting for over 4 decades. Impressed C mark together with another impressed’bramble bush’ mark in a square. He currently works with his daughter Freya Carter-Bramble teaching and making pottery in London. His work is collected and his sculptures of heads and figures as part of vases are highly sought after and valuable. This gorgeous vase is free from any chips, cracks or repairs. This stunning vase of an owl on a fence measures approx. 11.1/2 in height, signed to base and impressed mark, in excellent condition, no chips or cracks, showing an uneven base rim I believe to be from firing. Size: 19 cm tall, 21 cm across belly. Condition: Excellent condition, no chips cracks or restoration. The vase is decorated with a large brushed swirl firing an orange brown, in contrast to the deeper brown of the tenmoku. It has Chris’s mark on the base. Chris Carter was born in 1945 and has been making pottery since he opened his first studio in 1971. His work is widely exhibited in leading galleries throughout the UK and also internationally. Work held in public collections include the Ashmolean, Oxford, Birmingham Art Gallery, The Walker Gallery, Liverpool and The Sainsbury Collection, Norwich. His work is featured in Modern Pots: Hans Coper, Lucie Rie and Their Contemporaries: the Lisa Sainsbury Collection, Thames and Hudson, 2000.

Chris was born in 1960. In his early years as a potter he worked with Edmund de Waal. There are many who fell Chris’ work surpassed that of de Waal and he id now very highly esteemed and his work sought after by ceramics collectors. Three exquisite Limoges porcelain beakers in fine condition with no cracks, chips or restoration. The exterior is of dark gloss tenmoku glaze and the interior a superb limpid green celadon. On the side of each beaker there is a raised moulded crescent detail. They are each c 10.5cms in height.
