A stunning studio pottery bowl, made by David White, probably in the 1980s. Cream with a salmon pink trim and foot, it is decorated with his distinctive crackle glaze. In good general condition, however there is a tiny crack to the glaze along the rim and also an imperfection to the glaze inside the bowl. I have tried to show the details in the last 2 photos but they really are almost imperceptible. I have priced accordingly. 20cm in diameter and 14cm tall. John and Lizzie Leach Mulchelney Studio Pottery Stoneware large charger in dished forml. The centre has a wax resist meandering abstract decoration in tenmoku glaze, within a pale brown rim. Impressed marks to base. The white mark on the rim is not a chip but is where the colour has not taken. A really beautiful statement piece.

Jean-Nicolas was born in Brazzaville (Congo) in 1954. Since then, he has lived in the South of France (Grasse, Marseille, Plateau de Valensole). He started studying ceramics in 1978 and was Jean Biagini’s student at Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Aix-en-Provence. He briefly worked with stoneware before creating his first slipware studio (wood kiln). Since 1983, his studio has been situated Valensole. His work is chunky and elemental – no straight clean edges.. Height 8.5 cm Approximate diameter 26 cm.
