Size: 19 cm tall, about 15 cm across belly. Condition: Very good condition, no chips cracks or restoration. This is a a fine and good sized example of the work of Andrew Hill, who works from his studio in Skipton, Yorkshire. It is marked on the base with his usual incised mark. Born in 1964, Andrew has 38 years experience of working with clay. Qualified as a ceramist at Derby and began working as a full time potter in Lancashire, before moving to Yorkshire. He received a fellowship from the Crafty Potters Association in 1995, and in. 2007 completed a BA Hons in Art and Ceramics at Leeds Metropolitan University. The vase is in Andrew’s typical style, using brilliant mottled colours on a black body which has been burnished. The potting is light and delicate and like all good pots it is lovely to handle.

A very fine example – a hand thrown and surface worked handled jug – bulbous body form – Waistel Cooper – signed to the base – original condition – approximately 5.5 in height – no damages. I package all items with care – see feedback. Waistel Cooper was born in Ayr, inheriting his unusual first name from his father, a bookseller and stationer. He studied drawing and painting and showed striking ability in portraiture, but this was not to be his chosen way of working. In 1946 he travelled to Reykjavik where he took to ceramics. On his return to the UK he settled in Somerset and then moved to Cornwall to be at the centre of the artist’s community at that time. He set up his studio and became an outstanding potter influenced by the world renowned ceramicists, Lucie Rie and Hans Coper.

A very fine and large studio pottery stoneware bottle vase by leading British potter Jim Malone. Potter’s personal and pottery (Ainstable) marks to the foot. Incised decorated and ash glazes. Excellent condition, as new. Dimensions (approximate): 38cm x 16cm x 16cm. In my opinion self-interested, but nevertheless… This is a really excellent example of Jim’s work. Leach influence to the form and Hamada influence to the decoration fairly clear, but very much Jim’s own take. Excellent form and impeccably thrown, as would be expected. Lovely ash glaze with excellent surface character. Up for sale with some reluctance only because space currently bursting at the seams and something has to give.
