Lovely hand built and painted porcelain vase by Jessie Higginson RCA and dating to circa 1998. Measures 20cm(7.9″) x 18cm(7.1″). Good condition with no chips or cracks. Jessie Higginson is an artist-maker, based in Penryn, Cornwall. From 1996 – 2002 Jessie ran a ceramics practice, focused on functional, small batch production porcelain. Jessie hand slip-cast a series of vases and vessels, in minimal, sculptural forms. The work was highly finished with graphic surface qualities, using inlay, slips and glaze to create texture, pattern and subtle tones.

Wonderful sculptural flat slab built vase vessel made with interesting surface pattern (looks like it has been made using layers of stretched coloured clay, in the style of Ben Arnup). Sourced in the North of England. Signed TW and numbered I think B4T. 20cms tall, 24cms wide, 7cms deep approx. The clay is about 6mm thick. Asymmetric shape and base.
