Up for sale is a magnificent vintage Japanese Studio Art Pottery Vase featuring a striking dual-design concept. One half of the body exhibits a finely textured pale stoneware surface with crisp, hand-carved relief lines forming elegant orchid blossoms. The opposing side features a rich, multi-toned dark green glossy glaze with fluid, organic mottling. Height: Approximately 29.5 cm (11.6 inches). Narrow mouth opening ideal for minimalist floral arrangements or single-stem orchids. Status: Vintage, never used. Excellent collectible condition with no chips, cracks, or restorations. Comes as a complete set with its original authentic wooden presentation box (Tomobako), yellow storage cloth, and Japanese pamphlet/artist description notes. An attractive late 20th-century studio pottery vase, wheel-thrown in stoneware and finished with contrasting earthy glazes. The compact shouldered form is divided into two distinct decorative treatments: a warm chestnut-brown glaze with freely brushed darker markings and a textured ochre glaze densely speckled with brown. The irregular transition between the two glazes gives the vase a particularly appealing handmade quality.

A striking and highly decorative mid-century studio pottery jug vase with a wonderfully textured lava glaze finish. Standing an impressive 32cm tall, this is a substantial piece of studio ceramic art, featuring a heavily textured cratered surface in muted tones of charcoal, stone grey, flashes of blue and moss green. The sculptural form, with its angular shoulders and robust loop handle, gives the piece a distinctly Brutalist feel, whilst the richly tactile glaze creates endless visual interest from every angle. Adding an unexpected splash of colour, the interior is finished in a beautiful turquoise glaze which contrasts perfectly with the rugged exterior surface. Vintage circa 1966-70 studio pottery yunomi tea cup is hand thrown by Peter Lane in stoneware with a lovely rustic Japanese traditional undulating tapered form, and hand worked sgraffito decoration to the front and back, with a note worthy oval pinched shape at the rim, presumably to enhance the feng shui tea drinking experience. It dates from the early period at Cringleford in Norwich, Norfolk and it is in very good condition (please see photos). Height 10 cm, 4 inches. Please message us should you have any questions.

Stunning MCM fat lava glazed vase with a touch of purple to the glaze by Pieter Groeneveldt. It is in fantastic condition and is a highly desirable piece of art pottery. Measures roughly 15.5cm high, 10.5cm diameter. Please note this is a used item and although i try my best to make sure i list every fault and flaw there may be some minor signs of age and wear that i have missed. Photos make up part of the description so please look at them closely. He began working in art pottery from the 1920s and had a studio in Voorschoten in the Netherlands which he operated until 1972. He is best known for his use of experimental glazes which can come in all textures and colours. He is best known for his chamotte and lava glazes developed in the 1950s and 60s, pre-dating many in a similar style that later came from West Germany. He is now getting recognised as one of the great Twentieth Century ceramics innovators.
