Heath Ceramics Studio Neck Vase. Rare seasonal variant that is no longer in production (Seasonal line only produced from the 2014 “Design Series 2″ phase of artist-led explorations from Heath Ceramics). This is a very limited edition from Heath’s high-end / artisan “Design Series 2″ / Studio line (NOT the regularly priced lines). Eladon green & white gradient and matte exposed clay. Handcrafted markings mean every vase is unique. Stamped with the maker’s mark this one was by Jeff Perkins, as evidenced by the “J” stamp on bottom. The last photo is from the Design Series 2 launch where you can see the similarity of design language / celadon colorways (each of the pieces pictured were a couple hundred dollars at minimum; all were very limited batch, and will never be made again). Limited edition assortments boasting new colors, materials, and techniques. Measures 7 height, 3.75 diameter. Heath Ceramics Bulb Vase #131, Rare Seasonal “Mars” Red / Green Glaze! Measures 3.5″ tall x 5″ wide. Simply gorgeous layered and textural glaze. Absolutely pristine – there are a couple microscopic tiny marks that were extremely difficult to photograph; these are less than 1 mm and can’t be seen unless at the exact right angle. It was described that this special glaze technique has intentional variations; each piece is 100% unique and a mark of the maker. Heath Ceramics’ special technique “Mars” glaze is where high-contrast glazes are layered and twice-fired to form a subtle wave pattern. The result is a wave-like pattern of green and fiery orange thats swirling and dynamic. This was an early series of vases, covered jars and other objects designed and thrown around 1960 by Edith Heath herself. This particular vase features an engobe glaze in tan with a glazed onyx interior in dark green to black. The neck of the vase is a deep blue to green.
