A striking and highly decorative mid-century studio pottery jug vase with a wonderfully textured lava glaze finish. Standing an impressive 32cm tall, this is a substantial piece of studio ceramic art, featuring a heavily textured cratered surface in muted tones of charcoal, stone grey, flashes of blue and moss green. The sculptural form, with its angular shoulders and robust loop handle, gives the piece a distinctly Brutalist feel, whilst the richly tactile glaze creates endless visual interest from every angle. Adding an unexpected splash of colour, the interior is finished in a beautiful turquoise glaze which contrasts perfectly with the rugged exterior surface. Whether displayed as a standalone decorative object, incorporated into a collection of studio ceramics or used to hold architectural dried stems, this is a piece that makes a real statement. A superb example of the bold, organic pottery produced during the 1960s and 1970s when studio ceramics became an important part of modern interior design. No obvious cracks or repairs noted. Displays the expected firing irregularities, surface variations and character associated with studio pottery of this type. Please study photographs carefully as they form part of the description. Weight: Substantial decorative piece.

Stunning Lynden Over Lava Glass Masterwork Vase 15 Ebb & Flow Studio Art Glass A breathtaking, monumental studio art glass masterwork vase fully attributed to award-winning artist Lynden Over, handcrafted at the world-renowned Lava Glass Studio in Taupo, New Zealand. This piece features the highly collectible “Ebb & Flow” pattern. The design beautifully captures the organic ribbons, rivulets, and fluid lines left behind on coastal sandbanks by a retreating ocean tide. The opaque white layers woven into the vibrant blue waves serve as an artistic homage to New Zealand’s traditional Maori name, Aotearoa (“The Land of the Long White Cloud”). Artist: Lynden Over (Co-founder of Lava Glass Studio) Pattern / Collection: Ebb & Flow (Volcanic/Geological Large Vessel Series) Height: 15 inches (38 cm) Net Weight (Vase Only): Insert Weight, e. 6 lbs 4 oz / 2.8 kg Origin: Made in New Zealand Maker’s Mark & Authenticity: This piece is unsigned (common for studio art glass where the original paper or foil gallery label has been removed over time). However, it is fully and confidently attributed to Lynden Over. The unique “Ebb & Flow” trailing pattern, cased white cloud layering, thick-walled proportions, and cleanly ground base completely match verified gallery records for this iconic New Zealand series. Production & Craftsmanship: Vessels of this grand 15-inch scale are rarely made due to the immense physical skill required to handle such heavy, thick-walled molten crystal. Lynden Over uses a signature multi-layered trailing technique that guarantees a completely unique, three-dimensional depth. The heavy base carries the weighted presence expected of a true museum-tier studio masterwork. No two pieces are identical. It’s in Excellent vintage/pre-owned condition. Displays beautifully with brilliant color clarity. No chips, cracks, or interior mineral clouding. The polished base shows expected light shelf wear consistent with age and authenticity. Please view all the pictures because they form an important part of the description.

The Poole factory moved away from the quay in 1999 – significantly with Master Potter Alan White throwing the final pot at the Quayside March 2001, ending 128 years of pottery production there. Production continued at the new site in Sopers Lane Poole until its’ closure in 2006. Many gifted artists and ceramic designers have been associated with Poole Pottery over its’ 128 years including Alan White who joined in 1973 and Anita Harris who for over 10 years from the 1990s was a Senior Designer and Decorator. In 2011, Poole Pottery was taken over once again, by Denby Pottery and currently a shop and studio have been kept as popular attractions on the Poole Quayside where Master Potter Alan White can still be seen demonstrating. Several designers and ceramic artists at the site help design new collections available direct from the Studio website.
