Bernard Leach Studio Pottery St. Ives Large Abstract Platter Impressed. ThIs is a large stoneware platter produced at The Leach Pottery, St. It is hand painted in an abstract pattern. The rim and base has been painted in a dark brown glaze. The base where it sits is in the original pottery colour – see photos. This was set up by Bernard Leach and Shoji Hamada in the mid-century. Bernard Leach was born in Hong Kong in 1887 and died in 1979. CONDITION : In excellent vintage condition, no chips no cracks. There are three small areas which the glaze has missed on the under edge which occured during the manufacturing process.
