Size: 25 cm tall, rim about 11 cm square. Condition: Excellent condition, no chips, cracks or restoration. This is a lovely example of the late 20th century work of Ruth King, the vessel is of square/rectilinear form with three feet Ruth King hand builds her pots from slabs of clay rolled to get the relief decoration. This pot is slat glazed with a striking blue band, the blue only on three sides. Ruth King is a highly collectable potter whose more recent work is found in some of the country’s top galleries. She trained at Camberwell School of Arts and Craft in the mid-1970s and moved to York after a few years of working in London. She is a Fellow of the CPA, has exhibited widely in the UK and internationally and has work in both public and private collections. Most recently she has exhibited at the London Art Fair with the Beardsmore Gallery, Ceramic Art London, the Korean International Ceramics Biennale and Ziyunxixing – The UK-China Ceramic Art Exhibition, Yixing International Festival of Ceramic Art. I make pots fashioned from soft sheets of clay cut and assembled to wrap and clothe a space defined by a single drawn footprint or endpoint. The surface enriched by the passage of salt vapours reacts to each twist and turn of the form adding colour, texture and articulation. Beneath their idiosyncrasy lies a tangible framework, a kernel that they all have in common.

A sculptural object by the world famous ceramic artist Ruth Duckworth. Made in Chicago USA in her workshop. Ceramic object, 1973, good condition. The former owner bought this object in the Kosters Kunstkammer gallery in Munchen Gladbach Germany in 1973. The object has a clear Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth inspiration. There is a small firing crack that seems to be corrected/restored by the artist, and shows some discoloration. Height 9.5 cm. , diameter 18 cm 7.08 in.
