This rare piece of Caroline Harvie does not come onto the market very often. This porcelain piece is inspired by early aztec pottery. Some early Aztec pottery would use shapes and lines to show movement or tell a story. What pictures do you see within the shapes and lines on this Aztec-inspired modern vase? Caroline’s works can be seen in Abberdeen city Council emuseum collection. This vase has the CMH backstamp. The size of the vase is approx. 6 across its belly. The neck is 60mm diameter, the base is also 60mm diameter.

Stunning and rare vase by Julie Brooke of San Diego, California, affectionally known as “The Scottish Potter” due to her family links and having started her potting career under the tutelage of Barbara Davidson of Larbert Pottery, Scotland. Julie has specialised in crystaline glazes for over 30 years and as well as having been exhibited extensively in the USA and the UK she has organised and implemented highly successful schemes between China and the West where pottery techniques have been exchanged and taught. This vase is signed and dated 1992 and comes complete with it’s original exhibition label from the Open Eye Gallery in Edinburgh from the same year. Measures 20.5cm(8.1) in height. Good condition with no chips, cracks or restoration however there is crazing to the glaze as can be seen close up in the photos. This in no way detracts from the beauty of this vase.

Ian McWhinnie Scottish b. 1952 ceramic studio pottery painted vase – Glasgow. A stunning hand-painted ceramic vase, by Ian McWhinnie. He won the Morton Fraser Award for Visual Arts Scotland in 2004 and was a prizewinner at the Paisley Institute for Fine Art. He has works in private collections in USA, Australia, France, Spain and Argentina. The vase is signed to base and is decorated in his distinctive style. In good condition – no chips or cracks.
