Edward Hughes studio pottery large stoneware plate or shallow dish, ash glaze

A very fine and large studio pottery plate or shallow dish by leading British potter Edward Hughes. Ash glazes and slipped decoration. Potter’s mark to the underside. Excellent condition, as new. Dimensions (approximate): 27cm x 27cm x 3cm. Perfectly functional but also large enough for pure display. Relatively uncommon given that much of Hughes’ work was destined for the established Japanese market (Hughes spent much of his career in Japan before returning to the UK). Needless to say (hopefully), the pot easel used to aid the photography of the pot is not included in any sale.
