This is an absolutely stunning vintage brutalist style vase in a pebble shape. It’s a large piece stunningly, beautiful and studio made. This verse has a distinct, the look of the Tremaen pottery studios, but isn’t marked so unsure of its origin. This vase has been well looked after, and is ready for a new home. This vase is made up of chocolate, brown tones, a lighter darks tone tone, and finally overlaid with Lightstone, small pebbles shapes- stunning! This beautiful creation can also double up as a night light with battery controlled lights- I’ll shown. This really emphasises the beauty of this piece. The height of the vase is 10. The width of the vase is 9. The depth of the vase is 4. The weight of the vase is 2.2kg.

A Superb Elaine Peto Huge (59cm long) Reclining Hare Ceramic Sculpture A/F. A fantastic, massive life-sized (59cm long) sculpture of a reclining hare by renowned ceramicist, Elaine Peto. Hand-made by Elaine, this sculpture is finished in a creamy white crazed overglaze to the belly and feet with unglazed textured areas representing the hare’s brown fur with black detailing to the outer ears, back and tail. Hares are perhaps one of the most modelled animals by Elaine and this one is particularly impressive. A really wonderful and highly collectable piece, probably dating to the 1990’s. Elaine Peto graduated from Exeter College of Art & Design in 1985, where she studied animals. In 1986, she set up a studio in Hampshire and has become renowned for her animal sculptures. Each animal is individually made by the process of slab building in clay, i. Rolling out a sheet of clay and forming the body, then gradually adding slab by slab to form the whole animal. The details are then remodelled until the animal is complete. It is then biscuit fired, glazed and re-fired to stoneware. Unfortunately, as happens so often with Elaine’s lifelike sculptures, this poor chap has been in the wars a bit (hence the low price). His front left ear has been broken off at the base and re-glued as has the tip of the same ear. Similarly the tail has been broken off at the base and re-glued and so has the tip. Both of the hare’s rear legs have also been broken at the shin and re-glued. No other breaks, chips, cracks or restoration. Please see pictures for more information. A real shame because this is a particularly sizeable and impressive piece and would be significantly more expensive without the damages. The sculpture is 28cm tall, a massive 59cm long and it weighs 2.2kg. At the time of listing I have a number of medium / larger Elaine Peto sculptures for sale.
