Vintage John Bedding Studio Pottery Vase – Impressed JB Mark – Turquoise Globe Form – St Ives / Gaolyard Studios Beautiful hand-thrown British studio pottery vase, attributed to John Bedding b. 1947, associated with Gaolyard Studios and the St Ives pottery tradition in Cornwall. This substantial globular / bulbous vase features a rich, vibrant turquoise glaze with a highly textured, bubbly, and crazed surface effect – complete with attractive speckling, iron staining, and organic variations typical of studio reduction firing. The thick, lustrous glaze runs and pools beautifully, giving it a wonderful tactile quality and visual depth. Simple rolled rim and rounded base. Minor expected crazing and surface variations consistent with the firing process and age – adds to its handmade charm. A characterful and collectible piece of post-war British studio pottery. John Bedding’s work is sought after by collectors of St Ives and Leach tradition ceramics. Perfect for a modern interior, shelf display, or as part of a studio pottery collection. A lovely mug, hand-built by Frederick Cox Jolliff with lovely variegated turquoise glazes. Incised on the base Hand Made by Jolliff with his monogram, and dated 1926 I think. Excellent vintage condition, no crazing to the exterior but some to the interior, no chips or cracks. Size: 10.5 cm high, 13cm across the handle, weight 550g. Please view all the photos before purchasing, they complete the description. While I do my best to reproduce the true colours of the pieces, they will vary slightly from system to system, and in actual viewing they will vary under differing lighting. All white spots are purely light reflections from the camera flash. The item will first be wrapped bubble before packing securely in a solid box with lots of peanuts – earthquake proof. Beautiful piece of early 20th Century Art/Studio pottery,’Soon’ range by well known potter Reginald Wells. This small vase has a thick, drippy turquoise glaze with some dark iron glazed areas; it was made c. The Vase measures just under 3.5 high.
