Fantastic and a very early pebble vase, it’s a transitional piece, it has a not often seen slip glaze pattern, with a small piece missing but this is common with this early technique, and pieced accordingly. Beautiful early work by him signed with a W on base. UPDATED I ONLY HAVE ONE FOR SALE. Not 16 like it’s saying for some reason???

Very Large 35cm Poole Pottery Hand Thrown Traditional Ware Baluster Vase Hand Painted By Senior Paintress Gwen Haskins 1938-77 In BN Design. Very Good Condition No Chips No Cracks No Crazing. Height: 35cm Max Width: 26cm Top Diameter: 14cm Base Diameter: 16cm. Back Stamped: “POOLE England” Dolphin Logo Hand Inscribed “BN” Artist’s Monogram For Gwen Haskins. Poole Pottery was founded in 1873 in Poole Quayside in Dorset. The business continued to produce unique and ground breaking pottery including amongst others the “Delphis” range which was launched 1963. The Poole factory moved away from the quay in 1999 – significantly with Master Potter Alan White throwing the final pot at the Quayside March 2001, ending 128 years of pottery production there. Production continued at the new site in Sopers Lane Poole until its’ closure in 2006. Many gifted artists and ceramic designers have been associated with Poole Pottery over its’ 128 years including Alan White who joined in 1973 and Anita Harris who for over 10 years from the 1990s was a Senior Designer and Decorator. In 2011, Poole Pottery was taken over once again, by Denby Pottery and currently a shop and studio have been kept as popular attractions on the Poole Quayside where Master Potter Alan White can still be seen demonstrating. Several designers and ceramic artists at the site help design new collections available direct from the Studio website.

This is a beautiful and very unique terracotta glazed vase/urn. The jar has a bulbous, rounded body that tapers towards the base, with a wide, flared opening at the top. The surface is covered in a glossy glaze. The design features a decorative pattern of irregular, vertical stripes that appear to have been applied with a drip technique, creating a flowing, natural look. The stripes are in shades of dark brown and black, contrasting with a lighter, earthy brown or caramel color of the base glaze underneath. The overall aesthetic is rustic and textural. This is a tremendous piece that is very heavy and also very large. It has also clearly been handmade and handpainted. The overall structure of the terracotta is in an excellent condition. The design is also still clearly very visible though there is some loss in parts. It is approximately 28.5cm high and 23.5cm in diameter and as I mentioned it is very heavy and of excellent quality.

A stunning large vintage studio pottery vase. Urn shaped body with a fluted rim. Cream, oranges, greys, browns, blue colourway. Abstract design that has an oriental feel to it. It reminds me of Koi Carp due to the texturing, which looks like scales in part. As you look at it you glimpses of various possible images. A real statement piece and a work of art. Very good vintage condition.

Probably dates from the 1960/70 this rare piece is beautiful made and glazed. The artist Garry E Ball tragically died of leukemia at the age of 40 in 1981. The vase is 7cmx10cms. The condition is good but there is a small chip to the rim as shown.
