1990 VINTAGE SET X3 RAISED SLIP JUGS BY EH WILLIAMS CYNWYD STUDIO POTTERY WALES. STUNNING GRADUATED SET OF HANDMADE CREAM / MILK / WATER JUGS BY CYNWYD POTTERY. ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL POTS AND WELL CONCEIVED APPLICATION OF THE FLORAL DESIGN. GORGEOUS STYLISED RAISED SLIP FLOWERS IN BLUE / WHITE, WITH GREEN PAINTED LEAVES ONTO A CREAM GLAZE. THE INTERIOR AND RIM ARE A CHOCOLATE BROWN WHICH VERY CLEVERLY FLOWS ONTO THE HANDLE. THE LARGE JUG HAS A FLOWER APPLIED AT THIS POINT. SMALL JUG: HEIGHT 9 cm. MIDDLE JUG: HEIGHT: 12.5 cm. LARGE JUG: HEIGHT: 15 cm. CONDITION: ALL THREE POTS ARE IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. NO CHIPS, CRACKS OR DAMAGE TO THE GLAZE. THERE IS A SLIGHT CRACKLE-LURE EFFECT TO EACH JUG.

Gerry Williams Studio Pottery Stoneware Vase. Such a Rare find. Measuring 6.5 high by 5.5 inches wide. Beautiful Mid Century Modern piece. Excellent condition, no chips or repairs. Small firing crack at the bottom as shown in second last photo but that is original to the piece. I package well for safe arrival. 1926 Born Asanol, Bengal, India. 2014 Died Goffstown, New Hampshire. Cornell College (Honorary Doctorate), Mt. Gerry Williams is known using stoneware or porcelain to create vessels that are thrown and also for coil built sculptures. In the 1950s, Gerry Williams began working in the Black Hills area of Concord, New Hampshire with the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen. He cites David Campbell, the director, as well as other potters working at the League, such as Vivika Heino, John Butler, and Richard Moll, as influential in his study. During this time, he focused on wheel-thrown pottery techniques, but soon became known for his architectural forms in porcelain and stoneware. By the 1960s, Williams was well known and respected, and was well-versed in innovative wet-fire techniques and photo-resist processes for adding images to ceramic forms. He began working with large stoneware bowls and coil-building urns. He also mastered the Copper Red Glaze during this time. As his work began to shift towards stoneware and porcelain, he created a body of well-known political sculptures, known as “Political Constructions”, which included graffiti, relief lettering, photographic imagery, effigy figures, polyester resin and acrylic paints. In 1972, Williams and his wife co-founded The Studio Potter magazine, an international journal which became one of the most influential ceramic publications in the United States.
