A stunning two-piece studio pottery vase, an exclusive design by T. Entirely handcrafted, this unique piece depicts a soaring eagle above a forest, clutching a fish in it’s claws. The base glazed in earthy tones of brown and green; the top in blue; the eagle finial glazed in brown with detailed carvings. The base is signed by T. Wilson and dated 1976. Condition report: Very good overall, with just a handful of minor cosmetic chips to the edges of the trees on the base. Collection from Padiham BB12.

A beautiful brown abstract vase from Aldermaston pottery. It features brown and red motifs on a light background of cream and yellow. It’s finished with an iridescent glaze that was hard to capture on camera and really brings the piece to life. There is so much variation and subtlety in the glaze and decoration that each time I look at it I see something new, from reds and prinks through to oranges and deep mahogany colours. Its marked with Edgar Campden’s and Juliet Wilson’s signatures and has an incised TU. It is an excellent example of the high quality of craftmanship and style associated with the Aldermaston pottery that was founded in 1955 by Alan Caiger-Smith. This is a vintage item and so may show signs of its previous life. The vase is in excellent condition, there are no chips, cracks or crazing. Please see photos for details. Vintage and beautiful, handmade studio extra large vase in different bold abstract patterns and would look fabulous with a large fern plant inside! Appears to be stoneware with a base speckled glaze. All the abstract decorations on the outside have a texture to them and inside is glazed and smoother but you can feel a slight ribbed effect. The inside green swirl pattern is totally different to the outside. We did some research and Richard Wilson, Tulip vase has a lot of similarities but mine is not signed and no marks and the underside base is coloured red. It is a very heavy and substantial vase and all the decoration look hand done. The vase has a slight ring to it, so no cracks. Measures 7 6/8″ high x 10 2/8″ diameter and weighs a hefty 1.750kg unpacked. In very good well cared for condition with no chips, nibbles, cracks or crazing or discolouration.
