Stunning Vase Harding Black Pottery with Amazing Glaze 7 – American Master 1987. Harding Black was a pioneer in American studio pottery, especially in glaze research. This vase has a somewhat asymmetrical lip – but this vase is not about the form. I imagine him throwing these quickly to give a canvas for the glazes. It is the glaze work that steals the show. The way this glaze pools and runs is absolutely amazing. I have never seen glaze run this thick and not require grinding. The vase measures approximately 7.25 tall, 2.25 inches wide at the base.
