Marguerite Wildenhain Statuesque Stoneware Vase with Incised Wrap Around Design
Statuesque Marguerite Wildenhain Stoneware Vase with Incised Wrap Around Design. Strong and lively incised design that works all the way around the pot – one of a series that she made in the 70’s. It has a dent in the side (under blue glaze) the Marguerite let remain before firing and a crack in the bottom that must have appeared during the firing. She filled it with raw clay and fired it again. I believe that Marguerite thought the design was good and so fixed the crack in the bottom. The clay in the crack has been fired, but not glazed. It’s in perfect condition with no chips or cracks other than those Marguerite’s fixed. Signed “Pond Farm” with an incised jug on the bottom. Size: 6.375 inches wide x 7.5 inches high.
