Vintage Studio Art Pottery Jar by Sister Mary Lavey Description and Item Information Up for sale is this large, vintage studio art pottery covered jar or lidded vase by the well known potter, Sister Mary Lavey. Please excuse any glare in the photos. This nicely decorated, hand thrown stoneware piece stands approximately 12 inches tall to the top of the lid’s handle. The maximum width of this pot is about 5 1/2 inches wide. Unpacked, it weighs 4 pounds 2.8 ounces. This would be an awesome addition to a mid-century modern decor. Per Vasefinder, she was from Omaha, Nebraska. Per Omaha, Nebraska’s The Reader, Lavey was an artist who created works in ceramics, painting, jewelry, and photography. For 36 years she was an art teacher. Lavey owned Earthworks Studio in Alamosa, Colorado. Her work was exhibited around the world. Condition The jar looks great overall, with no chips or cracks.
