A VERY LARGE AND FINE ANTHONY BARCLAY VASE. 42 cm high in excellent condition
A very large and fine Anthony Barclay vase in excellent condition decorated in underglaze mottled browns and blacks. The pot bears a number of distinctive lugs around its body, and really is a magnificent statement piece. As the base and inside of the pot is also glazed, I cannot be certain whether it is earthenware or stoneware. There are no signs of any cracks, chips or restoration work. This heavy pot/vase weighs 4.065 kg and is 16.5 inches high (42 cm), 8.5 inches (22 cm) at its widest point, and 6.25 inches (15.5 cm) across the base. Anthony Barclay worked at Cheriton Fitzpaine Pottery in Devon between 1998 and 2007, and since then he has been based at Old Court Works, Bickleigh Castle, Devon. I originally bought this beautiful pot in Devon. This item is in the category “Pottery, Ceramics & Glass\Decorative Pottery, Ceramics & Glass\Vases”.
