Noomi Backhausen / Poul Brandborg for Søholm Stentøj signed studio Dish
1970’s Scandinavian ceramic dish by Noomi Backhausen for Søholm Stentøj, Denmark. 1938 – 2011 created work for Søholm Pottery from 1966 until 1990. Søholm Ceramics of Bornholm is one of Denmark’s most renowned Mid Century producers and their Stentøj (Stoneware) ranges from the 1960s onwards. Highly collectable and durable, they retain the quality of form and glaze. A beautifully hand crafted Mid Century stoneware dish in earthy tones of brown and cream with subtle green hues. The bold, abstract style and rustic qualities are very typical of this era but this is a unique piece directly hand painted by Backhausen and no two designs will be identical. This impressive dish is part of the Erika series for Søholm on Denmark’s island of Bornholm, a place that was and is at the heart of Danish ceramic excellence. Maker: Noomi Backhausen / Poul Brandborg for Søholm Stentøj. Backstamp: Maker stamps / painted initial. Country of origin: Denmark. Dimensions: 7 inches in diameter (approx). Condition: Excellent vintage condition. Please review all photographs.
