Large, rare and early LEACH studio pottery
A rare and important piece. An early earthenware jug from the Leach Pottery dating from the mid 1920’s and almost certainly made by one of the few early potters. Bernard Leach, Shoji Hamada, Michael Cardew, Katherine Pleydell Bouverie or Norah Braden. Made from fine red earthenware, with rich treacle glaze and trailed iron slip decoration. 23.0cm tall x 20cm diameter. In excellent condition (seemingly as it came from the kiln, not a scratch on it).
