Brian Wood Clarice Cliff Inspired Jazz Vase

Clarice Cliff Style Jazz Pattern Vase Hand Painted By Brian Wood Studio. The 1930s Art Deco Style, Colour and Design are Dynamic and Vibrant With Red Orange and Black on a White Background. Back Stamped “Brian Wood Ceramic Artists Made In england – JAZZ”. The Studio Name “Brian Wood” is derived from a combination of the names of the three partners – Margaret Brian and Daughter Sharon Brian and Deborah Wood. Margaret had been a Manager in Portmeiron’s Hand Painting Department with Deborah one of her most gifted Hand Painters there whilst Sharon was a Figurine Hand Painter at Wedgewood’s Coalport Division. All three were made redundant in the Autumn of 1997 and they bravely pooled their Redundancy cash and established Brian Wood and received wide critical acclaim. Unfortunately due to the financial pressures during the economic recession of 2002 they went into receivership but they were saved from collapse in January 2003 when the business was bought from the Receiver and absorbed into the Fenton-based firm Staffordshire China with the skills of the three partners being saved by all being taken on by the new company when Brian Wood Ceramics became a Division of Staffordshire China Ltd.
