Dimensions: W: 18cm (7.1″) H: 30cm (11.8″). This stoneware vase by Bernard Rooke exemplifies the sculptural quality and tactile depth that define his studio work. The form features a vertical upper section with six rounded, fluted tubes, each finished with a circular opening, arranged in a rising arc. Below this, a textured horizontal band, deeply ridged and undulating. Is finished in rich, rust-brown tones with flowing impressions reminiscent of geological strata. The glaze shifts from a pale, stone-like green on the lower body to ochre, beige, and deep brown tones on the middle and upper sections. Rooke’s initials, “BR, ” are incised at the lower side. The vase reflects both the Brutalist ethos and Rooke’s interest in organic, landscape-inspired abstraction. In good condition with no visible.
