Slab built form with impressed relief decoration. Greyish / cream glaze, impressed’IA’ seal to base. 15cm wide, 8cm deep, 25cm high. There is a large chip to one of the corners of the top/rim. There is also a small chip on the opposite side of the rim. See photos for reference. Ian spent 1954-57 in Baghdad, starting up a pottery department at the city’s art school. On his return to England he settled near Saffron Walden, where this particular vase was produced, using his oil-fired kiln. You will note this piece has stayed local to the Saffron Walden area.
