Richard Godfrey Pottery Tea Pot
Fabulous tea pot by Richard Godfrey. Based in Battisborough Cross, Devon, his work often reflected the natural forms and colors of the South Devon coastline, where his studio was located. Godfrey’s pottery is characterized by its psychedelic colors and futuristic forms, blending functionality with artistic expression. His pieces, such as bowls, jugs, and teapots, often featured intricate painted or sprayed polychrome decorations and were signed with an incised mark. A graduate of the Bristol School of Art in 1972, Godfrey gained respect in Britain and Europe, participating in international seminars and serving as a council member for the Craft Potters Association. His work remains sought after by collectors for its unique style and craftsmanship.
