Size: 28 cm long, 19 cm tall. This is a great example of Roger Cockram’s recent work – which he describes as themes base on observations of natural water. Roger has during his career work in a variety of styles and with a number of ideas and materials, his work often relating to fish or animals. Originally born in North Devon, Roger worked as a scientist and teacher before changing direction and attending Harrow School of Art. His first pottery, in 1976, was in Muddiford, Devon, and since 1986 he has been at Chittlehampton Pottery, also in Devon. Early work consisted of kitchen wares, all made in wood fired stoneware but after 10 years Roger rediscovered a fascination for’natural’ water and it has been a major interest ever since. An illustrated biographical Essay covering the progress of Roger’s creative life and entitled:-‘Roger Cockram – Stoneware Potter’ – was published in 1998 by Richard Dennis Publications. A biography of his life and work entitled’In His Element’, written by Alan Marshall was published in 2012 by Mascot Media.
