Up for sale is an authentic vintage Japanese studio pottery cylinder vase hand-painted with the classic “Karako” (traditional children) motif. This vase features excellent draftsmanship, showcasing detailed line work on the figures set against a beautifully aged pale celadon-tinted crackle glaze (Kannyu). The side borders are meticulously filled with red and white repeating geometric patterns. The base is signed with an authentic, hand-painted maker’s mark in red underglaze script: (Shoshu zo), denoting production by the artist Shoshu. Pre-owned/vintage item in superb collectible state.
