Doug Fitch an exceptional studio pottery very large wood-fired slipware charger
An exceptional studio pottery slipware charger by leading British slipware potter Doug Fitch. The charger has been very intensely wood fired and the background colour has taken on an almost metallic quality. Like the fire is contained within the glaze. Excellent condition, as new. Doug’s potter’s mark to the reverse. Dimensions (approximate): 33.5cm x 33.5cm x 4cm. I bought this from Doug at the York Ceramics Fair a few years ago and was delighted to own it. But things being as they are, some compromises are having to be made across my collection and it was either this or one of Doug’s (many) jugs. I couldn’t settle on one of the jugs and there isn’t currently space to have this charger on display so, with regret, here it is. Hopefully goes without saying, but the pot easel I have used to help take the photographs is not included in any sale.
