Alan Wallwork studio pottery cleft and pierced oval

An Alan Wallwork cleft and pierced sphere. Height: 5.75 inches. The piercings in the cleft of the piece are split as they go towards the top, giving the appearance almost like a zipper. Marked with Walwork’s “AW” signature on the bottom. 1931 is one of the major handbuilders of the British studio pottery movement. His organic forms are instantly recognizable. This piece comes from my personal collection of studio pottery that has been accumulating for fifteen years. Please see my other listings for similar items.
