Charming, Colorful Vintage Polia Pillin Vase, Circus Theme, c. 1960s-70s
Charming, Colorful Vintage Polia Pillin Vase, Circus Theme, c. This lively decorative ceramic vase was made by Polia Pillin. It’s in a spherical form standing on a pedestal base, with a narrow neck extending from the top. The decoration is on a striped ground in shades of tans and browns. It features nicely rendered and polychromed figures of a harlequin, a circus rider, and an acrobat with a ball surrounding the body of the vase. This is in excellent vintage condition, with typical overall light crazing to the overglaze, and no chips, cracks or other problems. Dimensions: 5-3/4″ in diameter x 6-1/2″ high; the base is 3-1/4″ in diameter; the rim at the top of the neck is 7/8″ in diameter. Signed “Pillin” in black slip on the base underglaze, with the usual three stilt pulls. Note: The white hotspots and reflections in the overglaze are from the lights. Pillin pottery is difficult to photograph, for me at least. The item “Charming, Colorful Vintage Polia Pillin Vase, Circus Theme, c. 1960s-70s” is in sale since Saturday, July 13, 2019.
