Vintage Studio Pottery Vase with Brutalist Texture Description and Item Information Up for sale is this modernist, vintage studio art pottery vase. Please excuse the glare in the photos. This bottle-shaped vase has brutalist-style texture on two broad sides; these sides are mostly unglazed. The other areas have earthtone glazes. This pot stands approximately 9 1/16 inches tall; it is about 5 1/2 inches long and 3 inches wide. Unpacked, it weighs 3 pounds 5.6 ounces. This would be a fine addition to a collection of American studio ceramics. Identification As shown in Photo 7, to the base is an impressed mark, Meek. This vintage pot is by Jerold (Jerry) Meek, a well-known potter with a listing in the Vasefinder online museum. Meek was a student of Herbert Sanders at San Jose State University in California. Per Vasefinder, Meek exhibited at the Nationals in 1962 and 1966. This pot was acquired in the San Francisco Bay area. Condition The vase looks very good, with very light wear, and no chips or cracks. As made, there are some glaze skips to the rim area. Terms of Sale 1.
