Beautiful, one-of-a-kind studio pottery vase by talented ceramic artist Sarah Moore Gutierrez of Sassafrass Pottery. Sarah Moore Gutierrez is the best contemporary ceramic artist today who’s work most accurately evokes the works of the Saturday Evening Girls, of Arts and Crafts era fame during the early part of the 1900s. Sassafrass Pottery ceramic artwork is done using the centuries old technique known as “cuerda seca” which roughly translates to dry line. This term accurately reflects the use of wax-resist techniques that serve to create borders between different glazes for a charming and striking effect. This great example of Sarah’s work depicts a quaint little whitewashed cottage home amongst oak trees with a pathway leading up to the home with blue skies and green grass surrounding the scene, bordered with the iconic SEG style white border. The body of the vase is a smooth, translucent teal blue glaze which is an absolute pleasure to the touch. Note the detail of the tree tops that have a dimensional and shaded quality of glaze that makes them almost seem alive! In all an irresistibly charming and early piece from a talented artist. Measures approximately 8 3/4 tall and weighs 2 pounds. Mint, original condition with no damage, no repairs and no restorations or flaws noted. Hand-inscribed on the bottom by the artist with the Sassafrass Pottery logo with the artist’s initials and the year of production, 2008 making this one of the artist’s earlier works which are no longer being produced. Includes the original paper tag with the artist’s story inside. Please see all photos as they are an integral part of the item description. Any bright spots are camera glare on this glossy glaze and are not defects. I pack all delicate items well to ensure their safe arrival.
