URSULA SCHEID Studio Pottery GERMANY Modern GEOMETRIC Abstract Art Cup. British/German Studio pottery by Ursula. (1932- 2008) Considered one of the “London Group”. Red clay cup glazed with triangular shapes in green and blue, showing excellent control and expert eye. Excellent condition, no chips, cracks or repairs. Ursula Scheid was born on October, 29, 1932 in Freiburg. She trained in Darmstad, Germany. Married to Karl Scheid, who had been apprenticed to Harry Davis in Cornwall, shared a studio at Dudelsheim, Germany. Ursula Scheid’s work reflects the German design aesthetic. Her pot forms are perfectly made and possess a natural grace and harmony. She works in both stoneware and porcelain decorating with slips and transparent glazes. She is a member of “The London Group”, a group of six German potters who first exhibited at Henry Rothschild’s gallery, Primavera in the late 1960s. Ursula died in 2008.
