Presenting an exceptionally scarce and desirable Mid Century vintage Scandinavian studio pottery vase masterfully hand crafted and signed by the renowned Finnish artist Pirjo Nylander circa 1960s. This tall, slender teardrop shaped vessel has been beautifully decorated with a boldly incised Modernist portrait of a woman to opposing sides of the sleek clean-lined form. The stylish portrait appears atop an earthy toned flat matte underglaze which blends varying tones of golden yellow and umbre brown. Darkening to the recesses of the incised sgrafitto portraits adds superb definition to the design. An outstanding addition to any Pirjo Nylander, Mid Century vintage pottery or Finnish ceramic art collection and a stunning authentically vintage feature for any well-designed home! SIZE: This impressive piece stands approx 355mms or 14 inches tall, measures 150mms in length and 65mms in width. WEIGHT: This substantial vase weighs 1.340 kgs. CONDITION: This piece is presented in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. There is one small burst air bubble to the glaze upon the lower right side of one face resulting in a small flake of a loss to the glaze only. This is in the manufacturing but mentioned for complete accuracy. This piece has been very well cared for and presents magnfiiently.
